HP plus more HP - not lashings and lashings of brown sauce but two bum-numbing excursions to the cinema. On Friday night I went to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix with friends, loved it, loved chatting about it afterwards. Yes, I've already bought the book and I'll be picking it up as early as possible on Saturday morning. Mind you, by the time I collect Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, I'm sure lots of people will have already have done it cover to cover. Like Leslie...
The greatest thing about the film is the female cast. Luna Lovegood, Dolores Umbridge, Hermione Granger and Bellatrix Lestrange, they're just brilliant. Though I'm slightly disconcerted by the fact that I may sound a bit like Evanna Lynch who plays Luna. There was a collective knowingness in the cinema when Harry, Ron, Hermione, Neville, Ginny and Luna are flying to London, as they zoomed over Canary Wharf and everyone thought - that's where we are! Right now, in the cinema!
Plus there was an almost mind-boggling array of knitwear (mostly sported by the Weasleys, of course). In fact Harry seems to get off quite lightly.
On Saturday I met up with old friends around Broadway Market, by accident and as arranged. Sunday was delightful - visiting Abi's lovely house , singing along to and marvelling at costumes in 'That's Entertainment', with yummy cake to eat, in great company.
Still job hunting. Still flat-hunting. Some crafty stuff on the way, photos later. But I've been too blah lately to get it together to get the camera out.
By the way, if there are any knitters out there who fancy it, Jenny has forced me in this:
Come on, Clap-Along. Do come along.
I will have to figure out where the cheapest place to buy the book near me will be! I'm sure I'll be able to buy a copy without reserving one, at least I hope so!
Hey, are there any knitting group happenings this week that I should check out?

I loved Luna in the film, in some ways she was portrayed better on screen than in the book. While some other minor characters got kind of lost.
But more amusing is the ongoing debate everytime a new HP book or film comes out - the looney christians upset about witchcraft...Perhaps they are afraid because they know witches are real afterall? :)

I can't wait for the book, too. I'm still waiting for a free night when the geezer can stay and watch the bub, while I trek over to the cinemas to watch the movie. Thanks for the review! Now I really have something to look forward to.

It doesn't come out here until tomorrow, but we don't have anyone who will babysit (I should say that baby H won't stay with anyone, he will be 2 in a few days, need to get him to stay with people). Will wait until I can get it on DVD. Seems like you had a good time, you need it at the moment.

Greetings from The Hamptons where it has p#@**%d with rain today. Which led me to regret my having 'Pottered'avec les enfants before coming here .... it would have given us something to do this afternoon. If the Long Island monsoon continues tomorrow then I think we'll be viewing His Harryness for the second time. Looks like we'll be doing the midnight thing on Friday, too, and buying the US edition...
Yes, I thought Luna had screen presence.

I have my book ordered at Waterstones and they are opening at 12.01am on Saturday, so I think a very excited 32 year old and her poor husband will be stood queueing with lots of excited children in the middle of the night!!!

Argh! Can't email direct because Google mail won't let me. I hate those corporate things. Anyhow, just wondering how you are and how the tedium of a job hunt is going. Keep checking for blog updates but nothing for ages so I'm guessing you're busy.

I have been walking round with blinkers trying to avoid any spoilers of HP7...this weekend I have a long plane trip (Denver, for training) so I hope to knock out several hundred pages then!
Saw the movie last week - loved it, though I felt it was almost too fast-moving. A lot of great details left out...Luna was perfect, a great contrast to Hermione (who I also love). Harry is getting cuter by the year (is D. R. legal yet??) and the McGonagall/Umbridge scenes were worth the price of admission by themselves.
I am back to crocheting the mad black-white-and-opal-fruit coloured blanket, am maybe 2/3 the way through now. Ever the multitasker I've been working on it while listening to "In the Woods" by Tana French on the ipod. Would highly recommend.
Suggestion for you: any chance of including book reviews as well as movie reviews???
