I decided to do top-down because I was casting-on on the tube journey and didn't think I'd manage the Figure 8 - basically I just wanted to get these underway. In order to knit them pretty quickly, I'll be doing afterthought heels again.
Saw XH yesterday, it was fine at the time but I was quite upset last night. It's time to start the plans for moving on - or actually doing something about them, rather than just vaguely identifying what needs to be done. I'm definitely swimming through treacle at the moment.
Those new socks-to-be look great - and don't fret about those others, they'll grow on you! And the fact that you made them and they fit - well - quite an achievement if you ask me :)
Sorry you are feeling so blue about XH. If a trip to visit crazy dog-and-toddler-and dog house would boost your spirits...just say the word!
PS saw some gorg sock yarn with your name on it...ahem

Sorry to hear seeing XH made you feel miserable but I'm sure it only to be expected and it will get easier soon. In the meantime, those socks are guaranteed to put a smile on you face when they are finished.

Sorry to have missed out on so many posts - I've not been getting enough time to browse my favourite blogs! I love the new socks - great colours and kitty is fab - lovely tail and ears. Sounds like this month is going to be a toughie with lots of 'significant' days to get through - I hope it gets easier and that the treacle thins out a bit for you. I like the sound of your mum's philosophy - definitely one to keep close in the forefront of your mind when you're feeling down. Whether you know it or not you are moving on - it's just a painfully slow process at first - hopefully you'll be looking back on it soon and realising just how far you've come. take care xxx

oh yes - much better (not that the others weren't good of course!)
love the cute kitty too - I'm sure it was a hit yesterday!

Sock looks fab. Sorry life doesn't look so good. most unfair. Our old dog was called Treacle, so that made me smile for all sorts of silly reasons!!
Take it easy emotionally. You are allowed to grieve.

The magic wand I would wave for you today (if I had one) would make you eager to celebrate your upcoming birthday as a joyful all-about-you event and as a gateway to a new beginning. I personally believe very much in the positive power of the birthday (having recently celebrated my 45th), of grabbing hold of the opportunity to be thankful you're here on this planet and of thinking about what you want to make of the year ahead. It may be completely unlike you, but I'd urge you to think about even (gasp!) throwing yourself a party so you can be with good friends and enjoy an evening of good company and cheer. Don't dwell on that past birthday -- raise a glass to THIS one.
