A while back, I was very flattered to find that the lovely Julie at Little Cotton Rabbits had nominated me for a Thinking Blogger award, in the company of four other blogs that I like immensely. And for many weeks I've been thinking about which five bloggers I would nominate myself.
Then I decided to feed them out to you one by one. Here's the first couple:
Another Outspoken Female - you have to love her for it
Eglantine's Cake - a delicious mixture of wordsmithery, family musings and general entertainment
Today on Julie's blog there's a meme, for which I've been tagged by a number of people, including Miss Marvellous Mouse, Jade and Helen and please remind me in the comments if you tagged me too. I think it's either seven or eight random things about yourself...
- If I miss the first episode of a series of TV, or the first few minutes of a film I just can't watch it. The set-up is just too important.
- When I was little I despised having my hair cut so much, my mum had to bribe me (roughly twice a year) to get me to the hairdressers. Horse-riding lessons, getting my ears pierced etc. I still don't get my hair cut as regularly as I should.
- I'm not a Catholic. That made for an interesting upbringing in Ireland.
- I am extremely particular about writing instruments and paraphernalia, I adore paper, notebooks, stationery and proper pens. But I can't write properly with a fountain pen - or even a biro - if I haven't placed the cap on the opposite end, so that it's balanced again.
- The sound of Pan pipes can drive me to bodily harm.
- I am the person who forgot how to ride a bike. Twice.
- When I was little I wanted to write books for a living, and started at least one. I burned it, pages and pages of it, when I was eighteen and clearing out my room when I finished school. I kind of regret that now.
- I have a tattoo.
And that's probably enough for now. Consider yourself tagged, and leave a comment if you do it on your blog so we can zoom over and check out your particular flavour of randomness.
On #6, me too! I've only forgotten it the once because I'm now too scared to learn again... I'm too far from the ground now!

Okay, maybe it's just me, but what are Pan pipes? I have absolutely no clue!

Oh I am SOOOO with you on 1 and 5. Pan pipes (ugh, I don't even like writing those words) make me feel ILL. And I drive my family nuts with the TV show/movie thing.

I'm the same on your #4, my excuse was anything cheap would ruin the experience...nowadays cheap is okay, so long as its felt-tipped, with the cap on the other end. And I also tagged you on this meme, miss :-)

Speaking of pens, I have a friend who, every year, makes these beautiful Christmas cards, which she sends out to her friends. Whenever I get one of these Christmas cards, I am awed by her craftsmanship. These cards are really a work of art. BUT, on the cards, she always writes holidays greetings/notes IN A CHEAP BLUE BALLPOINT PEN!!! Are you as horrified as I am?!
:-o

A tattoo! My mental image of you has undergone a step-change!! I would also like to do bad things to pan pipe players.

Gail...I'm just like you on #1..Even if a series has rave reviews if I haven't been watching from the beginning...forget it I can't watch starting half way through season 2! LOL
Also, want to let you know I got your swap package today. I'm thrilled with all the goodies. Thank you very much.

You mean there are still people who play those damn pipes?! are they deaf?!!
Also agree with number four - I have to get rid of pens that don't have their lids any more - ugh.
And thanks for the latest fabric swap - I have really enjoyed it.
